Description
DA OUTRA MARGEM – THE SOUTH BANK
Cross the bridge on a tuk-tuk to the south bank of the Tejo and you will not regret the view on offer. The Bridge, which used to carry the name of António de Oliveira Salazar, is now called “25th of April”, signalling the 1974 Revolution. The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a monument from 1959 that imposes itself on the landscape, its arms wide open, celebrating peace.
The climb or pilgrimage will take you to a viewpoint where you will be able to see all the Tejo estuary. We then go down to Cais do Ginjal to catch the boat that will take us back to Lisbon – led by dolphins, if we’re lucky!
