Description
MARINHEIRO – THE SAILOR
Here where Arrábida Mountain Range dives in the sea, the blue of the Atlantic Ocean seems to shine brighter. In Setúbal we can see the whole Sado Estuary, and its white sand islands, where bottlenose dolphins swim. The rugged coast of this Natural Reserve forms numerous bays that are perfect for a dive. In one of those bays is the town of Sesimbra, of pre-Christian population, as shown by the Castle. Today, Sesimbra is a town that subsides on fishing and sea tourism.
On the other side of the mountain range there are fertile lands, whose wine culture is one of the most important in the country. In the village of Azeitão we will savour the excellent Moscatel Wine. Then, we will follow the track of the monks who took refuge in the mountain range and we will visit the most amazing sanctuary in the region, Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo, in Cape Espichel, where land ends and the sea begins. The sunset is breathtaking!
